Bookish Time Travel Tag|TeenBookLit101

Hellllllo Everyone….

Yes I’m still alive (thankfully college hasn’t killed me yet). but you may be wondering where on earth I have been for the past month. I have to apologise for not posting regularly. College has been so hectic that I haven’t been making time for blogging. Anyway today I decided to catch up on some tags I was tagged in. Today I will be doing the Bookish Time Travel tag as created by TheLibraryLizard. I was tagged by them and you should check out their blog here

1.What is your favourite historical setting for a book?

I like books set in the Victorian era or even the Tudor period.

2. What writer/s would you like to travel back in time to meet?

Probably Roald Dahl because his books were basically my childhood. Full of so much adventure.

3. What book/s would you travel back in time and give to your younger self?

(AKA The Shame Question) In a nutshell I wish I had started reading regularly as a child so there are lots of books I could name but the most popular I would say is Harry Potter and Narnia. I have read the 1st 2 books of Harry Potter now, but I feel I would have loved them so much more if I read them as a child. I still gave them 5 starts though

4. What book/s would you travel forward in time and give to your older self? (as aa memory)

For this I will go with the series that holds a special place in my heart… The Hunger Games. This is the book that really sparked my love for reading. Also Zelah green, Queen of Clean. This was one of the 1st novels I read willingly (aka not for school) and I really enjoyed it as it explores mental health and OCD.

5. What is your favorite futuristic setting from a book? E.g. Panem from The Hunger Games

The Tower from The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee. I love this place it seems so cool to live in and very technically advanced.

6. What is your favorite book that is set in a different time period (can be historical or futuristic)?

The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury. This is set in like the Tudors/Richard IIII times I think I may be wrong but that is what it feels like.

7. Do you ever skip ahead to the end of a book just to see what happens?

I used to do this a lot. I did it with The Hunger Games but I really hate spoilers as I think it lessens the experience and the suspense.

8. If you had a Time Turner, where would you go and what would you do?

Pursue a life in the unexpected…

9. Favorite book (if you have one) that includes time travel or takes place in multiple time periods?

I can’t think of one that includes time travel or multiple time periods but my fav book set in a different time period would have to be Illuminae by Amie Kaufmann and Jay Kristoff.

10. What book/series do you wish you could go back and read again for the first time?

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I would love to experience it without knowing spoilers.

NY by the Book Tag|TeenBookLit101

Hello everyone, I hope your all doing well. Today i will be doing the NY by the Book Tag. I was tagged by KingdomBookBlog so thank you ver much. Lets go…

The Questions:

The Thousandth Floor.jpg

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee.  I’m loving this so far.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Can’t wait for the sequel this October. Btw you can check out my Non Spoiler review on Illuminae here.

Divergent Series.png

Veronica Roth. I would love to just have a nice chat with her about her Divergent Series and get her to sign my books J

The Color Purple by Alice Walker, The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga– I don’t read adult fiction but I have these for my A Level English Literature class.

I change it up all the time. Currently it’s split into series and stand alones. Sometimes I will do it alphabetically by author’s last names or even a rainbow bookshelf.

Paper Towns by John Green. This has been on my tbr for nearly a year now.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Don’t hate me it’s just I didn’t feel this was an amazing book. It was ok just not the best thing ever. I gave it 3 stars. I did enjoy it but when I read it, I didn’t give myself to the book, (If you know what I mean). Maybe I will re-read it.

Well I tend to read mostly books in the YA age bracket. My fav genre has to be Dystopian. It’s what sparked my love for reading. But recently I have gotten into the fantasy genre and a little bit of the sci-fi genre too. I love reading high school contemporary, especially those where the main themes are friendship and mental health. They are really important to me.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins– to warn them of the possible future: Don’t do it!!!

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. I would like to finish the Shadowhunter Chronicles before the next book in this massive series comes out.

Reader Confessions Tag|TeenBookLit101

I was tagged by the amazing NovelGossip If you’re not already following her then please check her out!

  1. Have you ever damaged a book? Absolutely never. I wouldn’t dare commit such a crime.
  2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book? Nope. Treat others as you wish to be treated.
  3. How long does it take you to read a book? It depends really if its term time at college. Usually I will read a book in about 2 weeks during term times. But when its holidays I can finish a book in bout 2 days if I binge.
  4. Books that you haven’t finished? I always like to finish books. If I am reading a book I don’t like I will put it down and come back to it later when I feel more the mood. I recently did this with The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood. This isn’t a bad book, I just wasn’t feeling it at the time.
  5. Hyped popular books that you don’t like? Ummm I can’t really think of any
  6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading? Nope
  7. How many books do you own? At least a hundred and constantly growing!
  8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader? Slow. Unfortunately
  9. Do you like to buddy read? I did try reading Harry Potter with my sister but she manged to get ahead of me, and she’s younger than me (she’s 9 years old) *Shame*
  10. Do you read better in your head or out loud? Definitely in my head.
  11. If you were only allowed to own one book what one and why? Noooo how do I choose.

  3. Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions

Sophiereads’s Questions:

What is your favourite book cover? Aww there’s so many to choose from. Here are just some of my favs:

What’s a popular book or series that didn’t live up to the hype? The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (don’t hate me). It’s not that I didn’t love this book. It’s just when I read this at the time I didn’t really put my heart into it and it felt a bit overrated. It was a nice read though.

What’s a popular book or series that did live up to the hype? Divergent, The Hunger Games. I could name lots. I love them all.

If you could be best friends with any book character, who would you choose? I think Suzanne from Beautiful Broken Things is such an upbeat and lively character. She’s always looking for adventure in life and is never scared to take risks.

What’s your favourite part about blogging? I love reading comments; it always brightens my day.

If you could have any career in the world, what would it be? I would love to be a professional reviewer. That way I would get to read all the books. Muhahaha. Oh and an author. Obviously! Duh, Who wouldn’t?

What are some of your favorite TV shows? Well. I’ll be honest. I’m 17 and I yet still looove CBBC programmes. My favs include Wolfblood and The Sparticle Mystery. I would kill for another series. (Not literally obvs)

If you could turn any book into a movie or TV show, what would you choose? I think Geek Girl by Holly Smale would make a great TV series. It’s fun and quirky; always makes me laugh.

How do you organize your bookshelf? Just whatever looks nice. I keep all my series towards the top and stand alones at the bottom. Other than that I don’t have a particular order. I always change it up when I get bored.

If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, what would you choose? Dystopian all the way. It’s where my reading roots lie.

Which genre do you rarely read? Horror. I really want to though. Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender sounds like a great read.

Jaed the Bibliophile’s Questions:

Have you ever hated a book so bad you just want to throw it at a wall? If yes what book is it? The Death Cure by James Dashner made me angry. The ending was bad that I think I did even throw it at the wall.

Pick one of the many fictional boyfriends/girlfriends you have and give the reason you picked him/her? Four from Divergent because he’s Four. Do I need a reason

What’s your favourite quote from a book? I love lots but… “May the odds be ever in your favour”

Currently reading? Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K Rowling, Bad Bloods by Shannon A. Thompson and Model Misfit by Holly Smale

Favourite place to read? In my bed with lots of soft cushions

Who is your top 3 bookish you tuber? HailsHeartsnyc, abookutopia, readbyzoe

Who is your top 3 NON bookish you tuber? Zoella, IISuperwomanII, Mariana

Who is your favourite cartoon character? I couldn’t choose one (you can probably guess I am very indecisive in life) Kim Possible, Totally Spies and Blythe Baxter from LPS (Littlest Pet Shop)

Do you have any pets? Nope

Favourite candy or snacks? Chilli Heatwave Doritos, Galaxy Cookie Crumple Choc, Choco Gateau

Favourite TV shows? Wolfblood, The Sparticle Mystery from CBBC

  5. What is your favorite memory?
  6. Who is your favorite author?
  7. What is your favorite book?
  8. What is/was your favorite subject at school?
  9. What has been your biggest challenge?

Books With A Purpose Tag|TeenBookLit101

Howdy Everyone, hope you’re doing good. I was tagged by the lovely @sophiereads to do the Books with a Purpose Tag. So that is what I will be doing (obviously)…

The Rules:

  1. Mention the person who tagged you in your post and provide a link to their blog
  2. Fill out the 9 questions in the tag
  3. For each question, insert a gif of how you feel about the book(s) or author.
  4. Tag 5 people and/or everyone to do this tag!
  5. Before you post the tag, do a five-second party dance. Cause you dat awesome

Questions and Answers:

  1. Best story premise?

The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I wouldn’t say it’s the best book but the storyline definitely hooked me. The ending; meh not so much, but it is still a cool concept and had so much potential to develop the idea further.

  1. Best world building?

J K Rowling for Harry Potter. Amazing! Who could possibly argue? She definitely thought it all through in so much detail that it could almost be real 😛

  1. Best Character?

Zelah Green.jpg

Zelah Green from Zelah Green, Queen of Clean by Vanessa Curtis. I picked Zelah because I remember reading this book and having so much sympathy and emotion towards the character. Vanessa Curtis definitely makes the characters in this book real and so relatable.

  1. Best Series?

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This series was the gateway into the YA section for me. I absolutely fell in love with everything about this series. I could go on and on. Like forever!

  1. Best Tear Jerker?

ALLEGIANT! By Veronica Roth. I guess the fact that I was spoilt for the ending helped me take control of my emotions for this ending but this series was a roller-coaster you couldn’t get off from. Why Veronica? Why? (#MindGames)

  1. Best Author?

Leila Sales.jpg

Leila Sales, author of Tonight the Streets Are Ours and This Song Will Save Your Life. I’m currently reading Tonight the Streets Are Ours and just wow. The way this book has been written is amazing. You can tell it has been really carefully constructed. (Oh and by the way I will be meeting Leila Sales along with 3 other amazing YA authors at an event next week. I will have a post about this hopefully this weekend with all the details.)

  1. Best Writing Style?

Holly Smale.jpg

Holly Smale, author of the Geek Girl series. I absolutely love the way these books are written. Super fun and quirky, I could read them anytime and over and over again enjoying it the exact same.

  1. Best Cover (you don’t have to own it)?

the sin eaters daughter series

The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury. I absolutely adore the covers in this series. They look sooo amazing and beautiful!

  1. Best ending?

Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard. I loved the way this book ended. It was definitely perfect and well needed.

So the tag. Hope you enjoyed reading it. Be sure to comment some of your answers or do the tag yourself and let me know…

Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag|TeenBookLit101

Hello Everyone, Today I will be doing the Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag. I was tagged by the wonderful icebreaker694 so definitely check out their blog (its awesome)

  1. Choose 5 books
  2. Randomly set your books in order
  3. Flip to a random page and record the first two names you come across
  4. Put the names in the categories listed below, in the order you saw them

My Books:

  1. Beautiful Broken Things by Sara Barnard
  2. Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J K Rowling
  3. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  4. Divergent by Veronica Roth
  5. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

  1. First person to die in the apocalypse:

Suzanne from Beautiful Broken Things

I think this could work (although I don’t want her to die) but I think Suzanne would end up taking some sort dare-devil action leading to her death.

  1. The person you tackle to escape the Zombies:

Sarah from Beautiful Broken Things

Meh, it’s okay. I’m not a huge fan of Sarah. Although she did help Suzanne. But I would definitely sacrifice her to save myself 😛

  1. The first person to be turned into a zombie:

Aunt Petunia from Harry Potter

Isn’t she already one? (Well not literally)

  1. The person that tackles me to escape the zombies:

Dudley from Harry Potter

I can see him doing that to everyone really

  1. The Teams Idiot:

Thomas from The Maze Runner

Nooo. Maybe yeh. He can make idiotic decisions sometimes

  1. The brains of the team:

Minho from The Maze Runner

Yes, he is quite sensible I suppose. And he is pretty much leader in The Maze

  1. The team’s medic:

Peter from Divergent

Nope. Don’t see this happening. (Watch out for the butter knife)

  1. The Weapon’s Expert:

Four from Divergent

Yessss. This is perfecto

  1. The Team’s Brawler:

Gale from The Hunger Games

Probably, he does tend to get angry at Katniss a lot.

  1. The Team Leader:

Rue from The Hunger Games

Maybe this could work. But perhaps nobody would take her seriously being so young.

So that’s the tag. Hope you enjoyed reading my answers. Be sure to comment below
